Cargo Agent, part-time, £16539 pro-rata per annum, plus pro rata shift pay.

Opportunity to join World Cargo in delivering world-class standards of customer service at LHR. Vacancies available across a number of functions, within our Warehouse.

Working as part of a team reporting to the Team Leader, the role of the Agent is to interface with the internal and external Customers receiving and dispatching Cargo Product Portfolio. Additionally the Agents carry out build and break activities in the cargo handling facilities at LHR in a safe, secure and efficient manner. This includes all the break and build activities of the inbound and outbound freight including locating and loading of such freight for BA and its 3rd party customers.



Interacts with colleagues at all levels and influences peer groups and other BA departments

Receives and inspects customer freight deliveries from Freighter Forwarders and General Public; Dispatches and receipts customer freight collections from Freighter Forwarders and General Public; Liaison with external Service Providers
Liaises with Regulatory bodies
Interaction with external customers and responsibility for service recovery


Needs to be able to work as part of a team and accept personal responsibility for work performance and standards
Uses relevant technology / equipment to break, build and locate freight
Delivers excellent customer service when receiving or dispatching customer freight
Scans freight and data inputs into BA80
Responsible for reporting all equipment faults and non-conformance issues
Responsible for the escalation immediately of all health, safety and security issues · Responsible for ensuring that all freights built for BA and 3rd Party flights meets regulatory requirements (Fit to Fly etc.) and is built according to the specifications defined in the BAWC SOP’s and 3rd Party instructions
Responsible for handling perishable / products of the soil in line with specific requirements (time / temperature sensitive )
Responsible for loading and offloading the BA and 3rd party trucking schedule for delivering in a timely manner
Deputises for the Team Leader if and when necessary
Recovers offloads for all general freight, with minimum impact to the customer.
Able to operate the ETV system including the Train. Able to operate the X-rays, slavemaster and forklift equipment and RDT’s when building and breaking freight.
Work is undertaken in a time sensitive environment and failure to fulfill requirements could result in loss of repeat business, endangering of aircraft and loss of revenue.
Inaccurate documentation or computer inputs could result in fines from HM Customs and/or withdrawal of Customs facilities.

The Individual

Skill & Knowledge

Understanding of and ability to carry out manual handling, package handling and building/breaking of ULDs and X-raying
Needs to have a good Customer Service Attitude (internal and external customers) and the interpersonal skills to recover where necessary
Ability to work on own initiative to undertake checks of colleagues work in order to comply with JAROPS requirements
Familiar with various office equipment (PC’s, Faxes etc)
Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively
Ability to work accurately and within tight time schedules, to maximise and protect revenue potential
Ability to be able to work within a team or work on own initiative.
Ability to work within an Industrial Relations Framework
Familiar with Airport Geography.
Relevant driving licences/permits to be able to operate all vehicles and equipment.
Ability to be flexible within the Warehouse and change areas when directed
